A Momma Named Lynda Jean

For my momma on Mother’s Day. May 14th, 2017

Did you know that I can still see your gorgeous shiny hair as you took out your curlers?
You still have the best hair

Did you know that I’ll never forget the time I came home to you finishing the wall paper in my room? There you were surrounded by pink and blossoms and coated in sticky glue ~ I can still smell that glorious freshly papered room. I loved it so much. Thank you.

Did you know that I still love wiener pizza? That was and always will be a heck of a good idea.

Did you know that I appreciate each and every time you let me stay home with a tummy ache? I was a super sensitive lil gal and no other momma would have understood me as you did.

Did you know I am STILL super sensitive? And sometimes the only cure is coffee with mom.

Did you know I have no idea who Rita’s cousin’s uncle’s neighbour’s son is or what year he got married? I know you know. You know the names and dates and places of anything I could ever wish to know. Thank you for being my infinite source of facts and forgotten tidbits.

Did you know that I will never forget how much you did for all of us? From meals and baking to sewing and endless chores. To saving me from weird situations and smoothing things over when I thought they were unable to be repaired. From something you found or made for me “specially”. To the many moves and fresh starts. From homemade donuts after chicken catching. To making me believe that I “shouldn’t even worry about it” and nothing I feared was a big deal. Thank you.

Did you know that Maddy and Max find the same comfort with you?
Maddy even told me this week I “sure was lucky cuz I got to have Grandma as my mom.” You better believe it Beana. The luckiest.

Did you know that I can still hear GX94 playing our songs?? Jiving around the kitchen. Or were we waltzing? Was it a polka? Hmmm

Did you know that you may never beat my Zuma score and that’s ok. šŸ˜œšŸø

Did you know that I may have looked 10 years older by now if it hadn’t been for Lynda “poppins” early morning pop ins after the babies were born! Thank you for the naps. The laundry. The meals. The advice. The shoulder to cry on.

Did you know I hope my kids feel the same way about me that I feel about you ~ if I can provide them love and laughter and wisdom and comfort and maybe bake some cookies now and then maybe I can pull it off. It’s not always easy but I am following in the most beautiful footsteps one could follow.
Thank you momma for being my momma.

Happy Mother’s Day!!!
The favourite.

We Are The SunšŸŒž

You are the star, I am the wish,
We are the sun…

~~One night as I dreamed~~
You came back to me.
You took my hand.
Pulled me from the dark.
Wrapped me in the curtain
I had thought was our “divide”.
It wasn’t.
It was a magic cape,
Coloured with all of our memories,
Stitched through endless days of our shared laughter,
our shared sun,
You looked at me and whispered…
“You are the star, I am the wish,
We are the sun.”
“You are the light, I am the warmth,
We are the sun.”
“We have always been and will always be.”

We cannot be divided.
We are only united,
always forever..

To wish for a moment
with you,
I simply need to be.

There are pieces of me
Made from seconds,
and thoughts,
and creations,
Where we existed in one space
together,
visibly,
in the same dance of time.
What we cannot see,
Now lies within our
very existence.
And this dreamy magic cape
Shall remain with me,
Surrounding me in love,
Until that curtain rises
Once again

The Polaroid

As you turn to face your freedom…

In this moment

Take a picture

What does it show?

Your heart is beating,

But I cannot see it.

I see you smiling, or perhaps you are crying,

But is it a reflection,

Of your deepest thoughts and feelings?

IsĀ it what you wish to portray, to “appear” ok

It mattersĀ .

I don’t care about the picture of this moment

It is only disguising the truth of your soul

I see the true you.

I love all you hold within.

Set it free.

And let another picture be taken,

As you turn to face your freedom..

The Embers

Love lives, as the fires sleep..

Within each of us

are the embers.

They ignite with love.

to light the way,

for our soul to journey

confidently.

There is the ember of wonder,

the ember of hope,

the ember of trust,

the ember of forgiveness,

the ember of gratitude,

the ember of creativity,

the ember of harmony~

Be open to receiving love.

It flutters in on the wings of

a butterfly,

It pours from the laughter of

children,

It circles you with a strangers

smile,

It finds you in a dream,

It catches you in unbelievable days,

and helps you believe~

Love creates light

Love dissolves fear,

Love lives as the firesĀ sleep,

and will wake you…

again and again.

Still Within

And now, in full light, I see myself.

I’m digging my soul out from years of discarded pieces of myself.

I’m sweeping aside piles of stuff
That belonged to someone else’s journey.

The wreckage of choices
Made from someone else’s right or wrong, pressure or fear.

I’m lifting off this heavy, guilt-ridden costume.

It no longer fits.

there is something hiding within..

And now in full light I see myself.

My soul is bare and pristine.

Pulsing with a light of trust,Ā and magic.

To be once again in my loving embrace.

Domino Universe

As we all lean into each other just a little…

I am a domino

I was created to create

I was born to unite

I was meant to rise and fall

I rise as one,

I can fall as one,

But when WE rise,

We lean the Me into unity.

We create a ripple

of light and love.

We create wonder.

As we fall,

Others will rise,

to see,

to feel,

to experience

What We can create

over and over

Until we are all

standing together

With a grand purpose.

Still in our own unique place,

Our spirits soar in harmony.

A moment spiralled through forever.

Light and colour building in

spectacular celebration,

As we all lean into each other

just a littleā€¦

The Pink Jiffy

As the bridges appeared, the joy and the light of that love, embraced the world and all within it, until, we were one…

I took a bright pink jiffy marker,

And turned the thin line that separates us

Into a beautiful bridge.

I felt my soul awaken,

As it raced to cross,

Finally able to give all the love

meant to share.

Little by little,

As the bridges appeared,

The joy and the light of that love

Embraced the world

And all within it,

Until,

We were one…

The Treasure Hunt

Life is a treasure hunt…

There are treasures
on the path,
on the journey…

You know there are some you
have found,
some you have left behind…

You know there are those yet to
discover…

You need them.

You crave them.

You search,

you dream,

You have a space…

a hollow,

Where it will fit just right..

But you never truly know exactly what you’re looking forā€¢ā€¢ā€¢

Until you see it..

You quench your thirst,

feed your hunger,

But no satisfaction is like
that which comes from
discovering a treasure…

One that completes life’s puzzle..

One that lights
an ember within you..

Casting magic and light

amongst all

~~who surround u~~

You Are With Me

Having known you~
Joy and tranquility
Are forever with me
I am without you
But you are with me

There isn’t another just like you
I haven’t found one even close
Like my favourite apples
When there are none
I leave without
Cuz I’d rather have none
Than one not quite right

Well, without you
I wander around …and I’m without.
I’m without you.
Right now in this moment you aren’t with me.
But your beautiful face,
Your chuckling, bubbling laughter,
Your wit,
Your warmth and accepting spirit that creates joy and tranquility,
Well that is with me.

Having known you~
Joy and tranquility
Are forever with me
I am without you
But you are with me

What Will You Bring With You?

I met you at the golden gate
Where love and peace and heaven wait…
I asked you what you brought with you,
In a life review of how you grew.
You took my hand, and your eyes met mine,
And you started to explain..
Each step you took,
Each jump you made,
The places you went,
The homes you stayed,
All crafted and cradled in wonder and light,
The dreams in the day and the stars at night…
A single bloom,
The blasted gloom,
A brand new start,
A patchwork heart…
Your song to sleep,
A river deep,
To the mountain high,
And a well earned sigh..
These little things,
All packed up small,
Filled your soul,
From spring to fall..
As you’re called back home,
Where your path began,
A little boy,
To this fine young man…
